FLOORING

At least 90% of all installed flooring, by cost or by area surface, is within the permitted VOC emissions OR the product is an inherently non-emitting source of VOCs, OR meets the criterion of recovered and reused products.

Low Emission Criterion – Inherent Non-Emitting Source

The product is an inherently non-emitting source of VOCs (stone, ceramics, powder-coated metals, plated or anodised metal, glass, concrete, clay brick and unfinished or untreated solid wood) and has no organic-based surface coatings, binders or integral sealants

DECREASE THE AMOUNT OF VOC

“Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) are emitted as gases from certain solids or liquids. VOCs include a variety of chemicals, which cause short and/or longterm health problems. The concentrations of many VOCs are considerably higher indoors (ten times higher) than outdoors.

VOCs are emitted by a variety of products, amounting to over a thousand. The most common examples include: paints and varnishes, paint strippers, cleaning products, pesticides, building materials, furniture, office equipment such as copiers and printers, concealers, carbonless paper, printing and stationery materials such as glue, adhesives, permanent pens and photo resolution solutions.”
