Incepa Responds: what is the best porcelain tile for high traffic areas?

Environments with a lot of movements, such as garages, commercial areas, and leisure areas, require extra attention when choosing the ideal floor. The concern goes beyond aesthetics; It is important to choose a resistant and easy maintenance part.

For these cases, the best option is porcelain tiles, because, among all ceramic tiles, they are the ones with the most mechanical resistance and low porosity. And why are these characteristics important?

Mechanical strength corresponds to how much a product can withstand the weight exerted on it without breaking. Porosity is related to water absorption, the more porous a wall tile, the more water it absorbs and the less resistant it will be.

Porcelain tiles have an absorption rate that varies between 0.1% and 0.5%, the lowest on the market, so they are resistant and suitable for high-traffic areas. However, when we make the purchase, we are faced with a giant portfolio of porcelain tiles available. To facilitate this process and make the right choice, our tip is to invest in technical porcelain, which has great performance. In practice, they do not receive a layer of enamel and have a high degree of mechanical resistance, coming from their high compaction and, consequently, low porosity, which means that they hardly absorb water (their rate is less than or equal to 0, 1%). Thus, their structure makes them safe and suitable for all types of spaces, especially for high traffic.

The technical porcelain tiles are available in 03 finishes:

01.Polished

As the name suggests, porcelain tiles with a polished finish go through a polishing process, so we have pieces with a shiny surface. To maintain this characteristic shine, it is important to use products with a neutral pH when cleaning.

02.Satin

Porcelain tiles with a satin finish go through a brushing process, resulting in a “soft” and smooth surface.

03.Natural

Natural finish porcelain tiles have a matt surface, without any shine. These products fall into the Grip category because they have a coefficient of friction between 0.40 and 0.49, being indicated for areas that require slip resistance.

Incepa porcelain tiles

Incepa has a wide portfolio of porcelain tiles with these types of finishes (the Calacata series, inspired by the classic Calacata Bianco marble, for example). Thanks to HD printing technology, we were able to faithfully reproduce natural stone, with all the nuances of color, variation of veins, and amplitude of format.

Another example is the Quartzita series, which explores the texture of naturally toneless stone, in nude and cement colors. The Oxi Ruddy line, in turn, brings the aesthetics of oxidized steel, a trend in contemporary architecture. Porcelain tiles perfectly reproduce the nuances of color, shades, and designs of copper plates.
